Cristhina is a biologist raised in the Andean mountains of Colombia. Inspired by growing up in such a breathtaking environment, she pursued her undergraduate studies in biology. Following graduation, she worked on landscape ecology, particularly focusing on tropical primate habitats. She worked to involve local communities in conservation efforts aimed at preserving the Andean ecosystems.
In 2018, she pursued a master’s degree in environmental impact assessment, where she honed her skills in monitoring watersheds and air quality, especially in industrial settings throughout Colombia. However, her heart remained dedicated to conservation, leading her to embark on further education in conservation biology across Peru, Argentina, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
After eight years of diverse experience, Cristhina landed in Canada with a clear mission in mind: to develop a project focused on conserving native ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and addressing environmental impacts caused by industry. Her approach emphasizes active engagement with local communities and stakeholders, ensuring that environmental management strategies are inclusive and effective under the supervision of Dr. Courtney Mason.
