Shay is a Secwepemc multi-media artist, graphic designer, and community organizer. When she’s not creating art, she is volunteering her time in various circles to better Indigenous livelihoods. Through her studies at TRU in horticulture, she worked on community garden and greenhouse development in two rural Oji-Cree communities (Kasabonika Lake First Nation and Wapakeka First Nation in Ontario, Treaty 9 territory), and Deh Gáh Got’ı̨ę First Nation in NT (Treaty 11 and traditional Dene territory). She is now the acting Project Director and facilitator for the grassroots art collective, the Indigenous Resurgence Project, and is working with community partners to provide educational arts and culture workshops within the Kamloops area.
