Wendy completed the Masters of Environmental Science at Thompson Rivers University in 2022 under the supervision of Brian Heise, Courtney Mason, Jacque Sorenson. She previously completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) from Dalhousie University with a minor in ecology. Wendy has worked in a variety of environmental sectors including as an educator for NGOs, wetland and wildlife consulting, and as a field research assistant. Combining her extensive fieldwork experience with aquatic ecosystem knowledge, Wendy’s research focused on the suppression of an invasive fish species in Cultus Lake BC. She used acoustic telemetry, nest destruction, and gut content analysis to determine the fish’s location and diet to understand how to effectively eradicate the species. Wendy’s research is in collaboration with local communities, Cultus Lake anglers, and the Soowahlie First Nation.
